House Tour: Daniel Garbutt And Valeria Herner's Ontario Home (VIDEO)

WATCH: Tour A Scandinavian House...In Ontario?

This house tour of Etsy shopowners Valeria Herner and Daniel Garbutt's understated Ontario home really strikes a chord in us. We're immediately taken by the use of reclaimed materials and the serene atmosphere in the house...although we're not entirely sure we like the idea that "you can hear every little sound at night when you're sleeping" and "the house seems to make its own sounds." But it's undeniable that the simple and calming decor has an irresistible charm.

This is Valeria and Daniel's first house and just like their vintage home decor shop Hindsvik, their house has a decidedly Scandinavian and Japanese slant in its design -- raw wood floorboards, white painted walls, industrial-style furnishings (like the pretty étagère by the main door), sculptural ceramics that serve as easy but instant visual vignettes. Our favorite parts of the home? The handful of framed flora, fauna and scientific prints spaced out on the walls and little details like potted cacti, which are both easy to care for and a great way to bring the outdoors in, especially during the cold winter months.
