Gus Van Sant to the rescue!
Indiewire first reported that Van Sant will step in to direct the still-untitled legal film that was set to be Damon's directorial debut. That news has been confirmed by Deadline. This brings Damon back together with the director that helped launch his career: Damon co-wrote the script and starred in "Good Will Hunting," while Van Sant helmed it.
Although Damon's decision to step down from the director's chair may seem like a surprise, he showed early signs of uncertainty in December. "I feel like there is more riding on this one then there will be on the second one that I direct, because you only kind of get one chance to make a first impression," he told KRCW.
