WATCH: College Student Goes Missing In New York

A candlelight vigil will be held Tuesday night in Virginia for a college student gone missing in Manhattan.

No one has heard from Ian Burnet, 22, a student at Virginia Commonwealth University, since December 30th at 4PM, when he texted his college roommate.

Burnet took a bus from Virginia to New York City on December 26th and was staying with two female friends at their apartment on Riverside Drive near 139th Street. He was last seen leaving the apartment the afternoon of the 30th when he said he was going out but did not say where he was headed.

Burnet left his cell phone behind him and is thought to still have his drivers license and credit cards.

His family says he has no history of drug or alcohol abuse and comes from a loving home.

The vigil is planned for Tuesday night in New Count County, Virginia.

"[Ian] knows how to take care of himself but we're just really concerned why he hasn't contacted us, that's not in his character," Ian's father, Mark, told CBS News.

Mark, and Ian's older brother Jamie, have traveled to New York and posted flyers in the neighborhood where Ian disappeared. A Facebook group, "FIND IAN BURNET," currently has 1,806 members.

Ian is described as 5'8", 131 pounds with dark green eyes and curly brown hair.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Sanchez, Detective Davis or Sgt. Greene at the 30th Precinct of the New York Police Department. Phone number (212) 690-8811.
