Janet Knowles Assaults Victim With Hammer Over 'Judge Judy': Cops

Judge Judy inspires ire in many, but one 62-year-old woman in Jupiter really took the TV judge's patronizing to heart.

According to the probable cause affidavit by Jupiter Police, Janet Knowles was arrested Sunday morning after she allegedly hit a 65-year-old man on the head with a hammer.

After receiving calls of a domestic dispute, officers arrived and found Larry Knowles holding blood-soaked paper towels to his head. He was examined outside by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

Once they found the hammer inside the residence, police asked Janet to step outside but she refused, saying that she lives there and was not leaving. She told police she "was upset because Judge Judy was on the television," according to the affidavit.

The victim told officers he was in his recliner when Janet got "upset with Judge Judy." That's when Knowles grabbed a sort of gavel -- a hammer-- and struck the victim, causing cuts on his head and arm, police say.

Knowles is being held in the Palm Beach County Jail with a $10,000 bond for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

While behind bars, Knowles may find that other inmates share her anger over what's on the tube. Last month in St. Louis, five inmates fought over what channel to watch, sending one prisoner to the hospital.

And earlier this year, a Florida man was arguing over which character would win in the George R.R. Martin series Games of Thrones, and eventually threw his cousin through a front window.
