Detroit Water Department Seeks $60 Million In Suit Tied To 'Kilpatrick Enterprise' Contractors

The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department seeks to recover more than $60 million in damages based on past profits to several water and sewer contractors tied to the federal prosecution of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.

The city of the Detroit and the water department brought a motion to intervene, as expected, in a separate lawsuit brought last July against contractors and co-defendants in the so-called "Kilpatrick enterprise" -- an alleged decade-long criminal conspiracy to steer contracts and vendor agreements and offer kickbacks to public officials during the administration of Kwame Kilpatrick.
