Joe Scarborough Calls Mika Brzezinski 'Food Nazi' Over Twinkies (VIDEO)

WATCH: Joe And Mika's Hilarious Twinkie Argument

The maker of the Twinkie filed for bankruptcy on Wednesday, and the news fueled yet another hilarious food-related tussle between the hosts of "Morning Joe" on Thursday.

Co-host Mika Brzezinski read the story, which said that "the good news" would be that Hostess would continue to sell Twinkies. "Why is that good news?" she wanted to know. "I'm not sure who wanted to editorialize in that script, but there's no value in that food." Brzezinski follows a famously strict diet, and has railed against soda, cake and other junk food on-air before.

Scarborough, on the other hand, indulges in Big Macs and Dreamland ribs. On Thursday, he implored viewers to go out to a convenience store at that very moment (6:30 a.m. EST) and "buy yourself as many Twinkies as you possibly can."

Brzezinski interrupted, "-- and buy yourself a plastic bag of poison. Eat it and watch -- just feel yourself -- grow in the wrong way."

Al Sharpton, who was on the show as a guest contributor, chimed in, "And make sure ObamaCare is there to take care of your diabetes." Sharpton also follows a strict diet.

Scarborough joked that the U.S. fought in World War II so that he could enjoy the right to a Twinkie.

"I don’t need food Nazi Mika Brzezinski -- and by the way, what is that? A communist, Chinese name, 'Brzezinski'? — I don’t need the Red Army kicking down my door, going into my cupboard, and telling me, Willie Geist, what I cannot eat!" he thundered.

"You have the right to have a gut. I understand," she countered.
