South Carolina Primary 2012: Live Election Day Updates

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is looking to "make history" in South Carolina's primary election on Saturday.

The latest polls show the Republican contender surging ahead; however, it still remains possible that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney could come out on top in the contest.

U.S. Rep. Ron Paul and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum are running further behind in the race.

Earlier this week, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman and Texas Gov. Rick Perry ended their respective campaigns for the Republican presidential nomination.
