Bob Schieffer Wants To Moderate One-On-One Debate Between Gingrich And Romney (VIDEO)

WATCH: Bob Schieffer's Bold Request

CBS "Face the Nation" host Bob Schieffer had a bold request for GOP candidate Newt Gingrich on Sunday: will he participate in a one-on-one debate with fellow candidate Mitt Romney?

Schieffer told Gingrich that he would be in Miami, Florida next week for the first one hour edition of "Face the Nation." He asked, "If I could get Mitt Romney to come sit down at the table with us, would you come on and debate him just the two of you?"

Gingrich responded favorably to the idea, but said he'd have to check with his campaign first. "I will tell you I personally would like to do that," Gingrich said.

There are two Republican debates scheduled before the Florida primary on January 31, 2012. If Schieffer hosts both GOP candidates on Sunday for a one-on-one debate, Gingrich and Romney would participate in three debates in just one week.
