Water Parks in New Jersey: A Huffington Post Travel Guide

Water parks in New Jersey run the gamut from indoor parks open year-round to extreme thrill parks, and they all offer fun for the whole family. As part of a Huffington Post Travel series on parks, here is our guide to all of the key information visitors need to know about New Jersey water parks. --Holly Quinn

Mountain Creek Water Park

Mountain Creek Waterpark, convenient to New York City, North Jersey and Northwestern Pennsylvania, offers extreme water fun away from the Shore. When they say "mountain creek," they aren't kidding--the park was built into the side of a mountain and is the summer companion to Mountain Creek Ski Resort.

Cliff Diving

Mountain Creek Water Park offers two cliff dives for expert swimmers: Little Moe, at 18 feet high and Big Moe, at 23 feet high. Thrill-seekers also come for Bombs Away, a super-slide ending with an 18-foot drop, H2-oh-No!, a 99-foot vertical body slide, and High Anxiety, a multi-passenger ride through a giant funnel.

Thrill Rides And Chill Rides

In addition to thrill rides, Mountain Creek Waterpark offers a wave pool, tube rafting, Tarzan swings and six attractions just for kids. Families can rent cabanas for the day for lounging and ordering meals.

Meal Deals

Visitors can purchase $9.99 meal deals from the on-site Luigi's Pizzeria or Pete's Burger Barn in advance or in person, or order from Mountainside BBQ. No outside food is allowed in the park, but there is a picnic area just outside the gate.

Safety Record

In 1996, there was a park on the site of Mountain Creek Waterpark called Action Park, which had a less-than-stellar accident and safety record. Our research revealed no notable news reports of accidents or safety issues at Mountain Creek Waterpark.
