Fritos Chili Pie: The Perfect Super Bowl Party Dish

Do you like chili? How about Fritos? If you answered yes to both of those questions, then you are going to love the Fritos chili pie. (And even if you answered no, you're still going to want to try this dish. Trust us.)

Fritos chili pie is a simple combination of Fritos corn chips topped with chili (plus the traditional chili garnishes of cheese, sour cream, onions and jalapenos). Sometimes this meal comes prepared in a casserole dish. The Fritos company even has a recipe for Fritos chili pie on its website. As good as that dish may be, we are particularly fond of this recipe when it is made and served in individual bags of Fritos corn chips.

When prepared in the bag, this invention is called a Fritos boat (due to its shape) or a walking taco (since you can easily walk and eat this concoction). Normally spotted at sporting events and state fairs, this Fritos dish is most popular in states such as Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. But we would love to see it nation-wide.

Not only is this chili fun to eat, but you will save on dishes too. If you plan to serve these at your Super Bowl party, all you need to do is prepare the chili, prep the garnishes and have the right amount of Fritos bags for all your guests. Once the chili is ready, open the bag of chips, add a serving of chili directly in the bag and top with your preferred garnishes. Serve with a fork. When your guests have finished, they can just throw their "dish" right in the trash. Simple and delicious.

And, just because you serve your chili in a bag doesn't mean it wont be first-rate. Check out our chili recipe gallery for inspiration.
