Ansel Adams Los Angeles Photos: Drkrm Presents Rarely Seen Images

PHOTOS: How Ansel Adams Saw Los Angeles

Ansel Adams did for landscapes what Dorothea Lange did for portraiture. His photographs captured the colossal nature of the American West with clarity never achieved before.

Adams' large format, silver gelatin prints of Yosemite and other National Parks are what made him famous, but in 1940 Adams did something very different. On an assignment for Fortune Magazine, Adams photographed the landscape of Los Angeles.

drkrm presents Ansel Adams' rarely seen, nostalgic portraits of this city -- taken during a time when Hollywood was golden, architecture was booming and streetcars weren't yet a thing of the past.
