Michele Bachmann: 'Dancing With The Stars' Rumors Untrue, Not Joining Show

Michele Bachmann Denies 'Dancing With The Stars' Rumors

There will be no tangoing at the Tea Party.

Rep. Michele Bachman (R-MN) issued a statement on her website on Wednesday to clear up rumors that she would be joining the ABC reality contest "Dancing With the Stars."

"In full disclosure, I did win a polka dancing competition when I was in the tenth grade at my alma mater, Anoka High School in Anoka, Minn.," Bachmann said. "But, despite my tenth grade polka success and my lifelong love of ballroom dancing, the recent rumors are false."

The conservative darling and two-term Congresswoman is the second former candidate for the Republican nomination to dash "Dancing" speculation. On Tuesday, a spokesperson for Herman Cain said that the Godfather's Pizza CEO and Pokemon enthusiast would not be competing on the show because he "can't dance in an eight-count. He can only dance in a nine-count," a quip that referenced Cain's 9-9-9 tax plan.

Bachmann and Cain's respective decisions to dance away from the "DWTS" spotlight come after mixed results for Republican contestants. Bristol Palin, daughter of former Alaska Governor and GOP Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin, came in third place in the competition in 2010, while former House Majority Leader Tom Delay quit the contest early during the fall 2009 season.
