The Foxconns Of America

Over the last six weeks, pressure has mounted on Apple to improve the harsh conditions for workers at its supplier factories in China, especially at Foxconn, the world’s biggest electronics manufacturer, which also makes devices for HP, Dell, Nintendo and other firms. While I believe the scrutiny is healthy and I hope Apple sets an example for the industry, it’s worth remembering that low-wage factory workers also toil under tough conditions right here in the U.S.
