A 92-year-old Georgia man was charged Friday in the mysterious murder of his wife, which first responders initially thought was a death from cardiac arrest in the elderly woman.
When the Columbus Police Department received a 911 call from the 90-year-old woman's retirement facility on Wednesday, EMS workers were told she may have suffered from heart failure, WTVM reported.
When they arrived, they found that Annie Morgan had been stabbed to death through her aorta with a sharp object, possibly a mail opener, according to the Ledger-Enquirer.
Investigators questioned her husband, Noel Morgan, and issued a warrant for his arrest after his story allegedly didn't add up.
Noel Morgan pleaded innocent to murder on Friday, and was held without bail.
