This past week, singer/actor Tyrese Gibson ("Transformers") accidentally mistook actress Amber Tamblyn's ("The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret") e-mail address for that of Amber Rose (current Wiz Khalifa fiancée, former Kanye West girlfriend), and approached her about doing some songs together.
But instead of correcting his mistake and telling him he'd gotten the wrong address, Tamblyn decided to play along and see what happened. Thank goodness she did, because the results are hilarious.
According to Tamblyn:
Gibson... saw my name cc’d on an email that a mutual friend sent out and thought I was the model ex girlfriend of Kanye West, Amber Rose. (My middle name is Rose and my email adress [sic] is registered as Amber Rose). I’ve never met Tyrese before. He pulled my email addy from that cc list and emailed me wanting to work on an album together. So I recorded my demos on my iPhone and sent them to him. I guess you could call them Awareness Raps? I am the Hilary Clinton of Ghostface Killahs...
DISCLAIMER: Tyrese is a very sweet guy with good intentions who made a mistake and I, being an actress and engaged to a comedian [ed: Tamblyn has been dating David Cross for the last few years], could not help myself. Tyrese, please accept my 87% hearfelt [sic] apology for stringing you along. I think we could have made beatufiul [sic] music together.
Tamblyn sent him a total of four "demos" whose subject matter ranged from dance floor etiquette to contraception, and while Gibson was patient at first, saying they could "make [the songs] real" with some work because he was "sitting on a lot of magic" with his album, he eventually knew he was being duped. "That was trash …. Sorry .. At this point I don’t even believe this is Amber."
All-in-all, Tamblyn showed amazing commitment to the prank, and eventually let the cat out of the bag by signing her final e-mail "Amber Rose Tamblyn."
