Blair Underwood Explains What America Can Learn From Jeremy Lin: Love Of The Game

Blair Underwood: People Are Not Aware Of What's Offensive

In our weekly "Love Of The Game" series, HuffPost Black Voices talks sports with a person of note. This week we caught up with actor Blair Underwood, who shared his thoughts on the attention surrounding NBA star Jeremy Lin.

I’m one who believes that in society sometimes we can be too politically correct being overly sensitive trying not to hurt anyone’s feelings…There are certain things that you may try to get away with, but you’re not going to get away with it. Using the N-word or whatever else, it’s not going to happen. And I think more specifically in terms of the Asian culture in [Jeremy] Lin’s case, I don’t think people by large are as aware of what’s offensive and what is not offensive. So it’s giving us a chance to have this conversation as a country in a broad spectrum.
