Ali Fedotowsky may have found love on "The Bachelorette" in 2010, but her relationship with Roberto Martinez just wasn't meant to last. Though she's stayed fairly quiet since her November split from her fiance, the reality star and TV personality is speaking out about what happened.
"We were really trying to make it work, and realizing it wasn't getting better," she told E! Online about her relationship with Martinez. "We were unhappy more than we were happy, and something needed to change...I didn't want to let people down. I felt anger from my followers, fans...The pressure was to make sure we did what would make both of us happy."
Fedotowsky, who gave her final rose to Martinez during the "Bachelorette" season finale, had been in the middle of wedding planning when a kickboxing injury led to knee surgery, which put their nuptials on hold last summer.
"We had a date set, and that date has now passed," Fedotowsky told People in August. "The decision to postpone [the wedding] was very difficult. I definitely shed some tears."
But it looks as if there might have been more to the wedding postponement than knee surgery woes. In October, she revealed to People that though they were still engaged, there was no wedding in sight.
"At this point we're not planning a wedding," she said. "Does that mean we're fighting? No. Does that mean we're miserable? Absolutely not!"
Those close to the couple seemed to think otherwise.
"Their relationship has been tumultuous since day one," a source told Us Weekly in 2011, so their November didn't come out of left field for some.
But these days, Fedotowsky says she's moving on with her life, telling E!, "I'm happy with me and who I am and being single."
