Beachgoers Save Dolphins At Arraial Do Cabo In Brazil (VIDEO)

Beachgoers Save Stranded Dolphins

Video camera-toting YouTube user Gerd Traue filmed this amazing video of people selflessly springing into action as the tide carried a pod of unsuspecting dolphins toward the beach at Arraial do Cabo in Brazil.

The relief on their faces as each dolphin is successfully transfered back to the water is contagious.

Unfortunately, this isn't an isolated incident. In February, 129 dolphins were stranded along the coast of Cape Cod, 92 of which died despite the efforts of rescuers.

The incident was the Northeast's largest "single-species event" on record, CNN reported.

Sometimes, though, dolphins' strength in the face of adversity can be downright amazing.

Miraculously, a baby dolphin that was dumped in a rice field by the tsunami that struck Japan last year was found in time to save its life.

"A man passing by said he had found the dolphin in the rice paddy and that we had to do something to save it," Ryo Taira, 32, told Reuters.

Taira and some friends wrapped the dolphin in wet towels and took it to the ocean water where it was set free.
