Bill O'Reilly made an epic return to "The View" on Thursday and clashed with the hosts about well, just about every topic that came up.
Host Barbara Walters first confronted O'Reilly about a comment he made about Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown University law student who Rush Limbaugh attacked as a "slut" and "prostitute" after she argued for health insurance covered contraception.
On his Fox News show, O'Reilly said that Fluke had not accepted the invitation to appear on "The Factor," but alleged that she went on "The View" because she would get a friendly treatment. "Maybe it's that we were more objective, but I will move on," host Barbara Walters said with a tone of disapproval for O'Reilly's assessment.
O'Reilly called Limbaugh's comments inappropriate and said his show took on Fluke's "opinion that she is owed a certain amount of lifestyle help." The ladies of the "View" pressed that Fluke argued for women's health, not lifestyle.
Host Elisabeth Hasselbeck changed the subject to the Republican primary race. O'Reilly said that GOP candidate Mitt Romney will win the nomination, and could definitely beat President Obama. "But the economy is improving," host Barbara Walters said.
O'Reilly pushed back and said, "gas will be at 8 dollars a gallon." Host Joy Behar jumped in, criticizing O'Reilly's argument. "Americans know that gas prices don't have to do with Obama. It has to do with world affairs. Everybody knows that," she said. "I don't know that. I don't know that," O'Reilly charged.
Host Whoopi Goldberg further challenged O'Reilly. Goldberg said that gas prices go up "every several years...it doesn't matter who the president is."
"Because the President doesn't solve the problem of speculation," O'Reilly said. "But none of them do, darling. That's my point," Goldberg fired back. "I would! I would," O'Reilly bragged.
Host Sherri Shepherd steered the conversation to GOP candidate Newt Gingrich. "Should he drop out?" she wondered. "No, he's having fun..What else does he have to do?" O'Reilly said. "Get divorced and get married again," Behar joked. "Oh that's not nice," O'Reilly said. "What's wrong with you. Come on."
"Oh I'm sorry. You're so nice and I'm not," Behar said.
O'Reilly has quite the history with the ladies of the "View." In 2010, he clashed with Goldberg and Behar and the two hosts walked off the set in the middle of the segment. His 2011 appearance was far more tame in comparison.
