Neighbors On Fatal Miami Lakes Shooting: 'It’s Finally Over'

Miami-Dade Police shot and killed a Miami Lakes man Wednesday while serving him a high-risk search warrant.

According to a police release, the department's Special Response Team arrived at Michael Ray Santana's residence at 6915 Bottle Brush Drive at 8:30 p.m. as part of a narcotics investigation.

Once inside, the team was met by Santana, a white male, 26, who was armed.

When he pointed the gun at officers, Santana was shot and killed, police say.

“In many of these narcotics investigations, where you find drugs, you find guns,” police spokesman Detective Roy Rutland told the Herald.

Miami-Dade detectives have revealed that multiple firearms were discovered in the residence as well as large amounts of narcotics that were packaged for sale.

“The rumor in the neighborhood was that they were dealing drugs out of there because the constant coming of cars," neighbor Grace Gonzalez told CBS Miami. "So were we surprised? No. I believe the neighbors who live right across were very upset and as a matter of fact I heard one of them say, it’s finally over."
