Rick Santorum Worries Endangered Species Act Values ‘Critters Above People'

Santorum: 'Radical Ideology' Puts 'Critters' Above People

Rick Santorum accused his rivals Monday of having "a truly radical environmental agenda" and putting "critters above people."

“What we have seen under this administration is a truly radical environmental agenda,” Santorum said in response to a question at the Gulf Coast Energy Summit in Biloxi, Mississipi.

He also attacked Newt Gingrich, apparently a fan of wild animals, for supporting the Endangered Species Act.

"There are so many places that we put critters above people," Santorum said. "It’s a radical ideology that says we are here to serve the Earth instead of man having dominion over the Earth to serve him and to be a good steward of that Earth.”

Santorum has previously said that the president is beholden to "radical environmentalists."

He made a similar jab on Monday, mocking the Environmental Protection Agency's attempts to regulate carbon dioxide. “On day one, I will repeal every one of those high-cost regulations being put in place by the Obama administration," he said.
