James Denton has had quite a busy week. The man who for years played hunky plumber Mike Delfino on "Desperate Housewives" saw his character killed off on Sunday night, two days after the plot twist was spoiled by producer George Perkins in courtroom testimony in Nicollette Sheridan's wrongful termination lawsuit against "Desperate" creator Marc Cherry.
In an interview on "The Wendy Williams Show" (weekdays on Fox) Denton looked back at the surreal week. "Thursday in court, they asked me on the stand if she was the most prominent character to ever be killed, and I said, 'Technically, yeah.' Because I knew I wasn't dead for two more days," he recounted.
Denton continued to set the scene of how his character's death was spoiled. "One of our producers testified and they asked him the same question, and he said, 'Other than James Denton,'" at which several female members of the jury let out audible gasps.
Williams then segued back to the show, asking Denton, "Now who's gonna be taking care of Teri Hatcher's plumbing?" After praising his longtime TV wife Hatcher's "great quality where you just pull for her," he joked, "Maybe she'll marry Tom Scavo, who knows?"
