Colbert Rips Rick Santorum's Teleprompter Tirade (VIDEO)

WATCH: Colbert Mocks Santorum's Teleprompter Tirade

With Rick Santorum surging after wins in the Alabama and Mississippi Republican primaries, Stephen Colbert examined the former Senator's appeal to voters on Wednesday night's "Colbert Report."

According to Colbert, Santorum's authenticity is why he resonates so well with conservatives. For example, the former Pennsylvania Senator believes that if you run for president of the United States, it should be illegal to read off of a teleprompter, "because all you're doing is reading somebody else's words."

Colbert wholeheartedly agreed, but he didn't stop there:

"I believe we cannot stop at teleprompters. I reject all pre-written words. That's why I'm against reading books. I mean, books are a lie. When I read the words it makes thought sounds in my head like I'm thinking them."

Watch the full clip above to see Colbert reveal his special technique for speaking on his show without the use of teleprompters.
