'Dark Shadows' Trailer: Johnny Depp, Tim Burton Team For Best '70s-Set Vampire Comedy Of The Year?

Bang A Gong: Johnny Depp, Tim Burton Bring Humor To 'Dark Shadows' In First Trailer

If the first images of Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins in "Dark Shadows" had you worried that it was going to be another one of Depp's "weird," post-Jack Sparrow paycheck roles, then watch the new trailer for the film immediately. Showing a spark that he hasn't had since, arguably, the first "Pirates of the Caribbean" film, Depp brings just the right bit of eccentricity to Tim Burton's adaptation of the cult '60s soap opera about a cursed vampire who haunts his old mansion.

Starring Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, Chloe Mortez and Eva Green, "Dark Shadows" looks like it has more in common with those classic Depp-Burton collaborations you love ("Edward Scissorhands," "Ed Wood"), than those you don't ("Alice in Wonderland," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"). It's funny! And random! Also, Eva Green. That is all.

Watch the trailer above and head over to Apple to check it out in HD. "Dark Shadows" arrives in theaters on May 11; bang a gong to pass the time until it comes out.
