Obama Slams A Republican President: Rutherford B. Hayes, Not George W. Bush

Obama Slams Rutherford B. Hayes For Dissing The Telephone

Barack Obama has gotten a lot of political mileage criticizing former Republican president George W. Bush, but in a speech on alternative energy sources, he went back 130 years and griped about Rutherford B. Hayes.

"President Rutherford B. Hayes reportedly said about the telephone: 'It’s a great invention, but who would ever want to use one?'" Obama told a crowd in Maryland in a speech on new energy options. "That's why he's not on Mt. Rushmore."
