'Dancing With The Stars': Season 14 Premieres To Low Ratings

Has the ballroom lost its sheen? "Dancing With the Stars" Season 14 kicked off on Monday with 18.5 million viewers tuning in, but was down from the previous two seasons.

According to ABC, the "DWTS" premiere scored a 3.5 rating in the 18-49 demo. When compared to the Season 12 premiere, the show was down 34 percent and 13 percent from the Season 13 premiere. Season 13 debuted to roughly 19 million viewers and a 4.0 rating in the demographic. Season 12 had 22.7 million viewers with a 5.3 rating in the demo.

But the Season 14 premiere boosted "Castle's" numbers to 16.3 million viewers and 2.4 rating.

On NBC, "The Voice" fell to the "DWTS" competition in terms of total viewers -- 11.8 million -- but stayed strong in the 18-49 demographic, pulling in a 4.5 rating. "Smash" had 6.7 million viewers with a 2.3 rating.

Over on CBS, 8.2 million viewers watched "How I Met Your Mother" with a 3.4 rating; 9.2 million tuned in for "2 Broke Girls," which got a 3.4 rating; "Two and a Half Men" had 11.3 million viewers and a 3.8 rating ;and "Mike & Molly" had 9.8 million viewers a 3.2 rating. At 10 p.m. ET, "Hawaii Five-0" had 9.1 million viewers and a 2.5 rating.

"House" was down with 5.8 million viewers and a 2.0 rating and "Alcatraz" slipped to 5.1 million viewers and a 1.5 rating. The CW aired repeats.

The "Dancing With the Stars" decline is similar to that of Fox's "American Idol," another veteran reality competition, with both shows have seen declining viewership season-over-season.
