Two Chicago children were killed Saturday evening when an SUV that was reportedly fleeing from a fender-bender plowed into their family's vehicle on the city's Southwest Side.

Eric Ochoa, 5, and his 10-month-old sister Julissa Ochoa were pronounced dead Saturday evening, NBC Chicago reports. The children were in a vehicle with their parents near 45th Street and Western Avenue when a speeding SUV crashed into them.

“I’m just dead inside," Bernice Cabrera, the children's mother, told NBC. "I have no tears left inside of me. I've cried everything I could, and I know it's going to hit me again. Keep me in your prayers, my family and everybody."

The children's father was also injured in the crash, and Cabrera now must break the tragic news of their deaths to her fiance, CBS Chicago reports. He was hospitalized in serious condition as of Sunday.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the SUV was involved in a minor accident near 43rd and Western, and was speeding southbound when it struck the family's car.

The driver of the SUV was taken into police custody, and charges are expected.
