"A Look Back" is a daily column that highlights a moment from fashion's fabulous past. Today's pick is of Patti Smith before a radio interview in 1978. A true renaissance woman, Smith is known not only as a singer-songwriter (she first rocked the music world in 1975 with her debut album Horses) but also as a visual artist and poet. The "Godmother of Punk" emerged from unofficial retirement in the '90s, becoming an art scene fixture once again. In 2010, she wrote the award-winning memoir Just Kids. What do you think of Smith's subversive look?
