Lamar Odom has been having a rough year, which is why it's not hard to believe that his wife, Khloe Kardashian, is concerned about his mental health.
According to RadarOnline, the 27-year-old reality star has been telling friends and family for several weeks that Lamar has been depressed ever since he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks last fall.
A source close to the couple claims the 32-year-old NBA player never got over being traded from the Los Angeles Lakers and has been depressed and moody for months. "Lamar felt that he was ripped away from his Laker family with no warning or notice. He couldn't fathom the fact that the Lakers traded him after all his years with the team," says the insider. "Khloe has been extremely supportive of Lamar, but she's growing increasingly concerned for her husband because she has never seen him like this before."
Earlier today Odom announced he's done with Dallas, telling ESPN: "The Mavericks and I have mutually agreed that it's in the best interest of both parties for me to step away from the team. I'm sorry that things didn't work out better for both of us, but I wish the Mav's organization, my teammates and Dallas fans nothing but continued success in the defense of their championship."
Odom, the NBA's reigning Sixth Man of the Year, has now been placed on the inactive list and won't play for the Mavericks, which means he could still be traded at the end of the season.
Khloe clearly supports Lamar's decision to leave the team, and after his announcement she tweeted: "U deserve so much better. Know ur worth and know ur skills that have been proven and earned! U showed ur strength, I love u."
According to RadarOnline's source, Odom feels completely lost right now, but Khloe is hoping once they return home to Los Angeles his depression will subside. "Lamar wants to keep playing basketball but it might be time for him to retire, which has Khloe even more concerned," said the source.
