Georgia mother Jan Baird said she found a rifle bullet inside her 6-year-old son's new baseball cleats, WTVM reports.
The woman said her son had tried one of the shoes at the store, but never tried on the one containing the bullet.
The store reported the incident to police, who are now investigating the matter.
While Baird's discovery is definitely unusual, it's not entirely unique.
In 2009, a Tennessee woman found a bullet in her baby's diaper after trying to soothe the crying child. Police said it was possible the bullet originated from a New Year's celebration outside the establishment.
Both children escaped the incidents unharmed, but in February, a West Virginia baby sustained minor lacerations from a razor blade hidden in the foot of her sleeper.
Mother Brittany Morgan purchased the Carter's outfit from Walmart, and although the company offered to pay medical expenses, Morgan said she remained concerned of what could have happened to her child.
