WASHINGTON -- What, your house's receiving hall doesn't need redecorating?
This year's DC Design House is a 10,000 square foot seven bedroom, seven bath colonial brick house in D.C.'s Spring Valley neighborhood that was selling for $3.9 million before recently being taken off the market. (Sherry Moeller, who does PR for the event, says the house is likely to go back on after the Design House closes.)
Twenty-three local designers have gone to work on the house's interiors, gardens, decks and patios. The end results are dramatic -- and mostly available for purchase, to help a good cause.
Now in its fifth year, Design House is a fundraiser for Childrenʼs National Medical Center. Moeller told The Huffington Post that the event brings in about $200,000 per year for the hospital.

We are especially taken with the room described as the "L'Orangerie" -- indeed, it does have a lot of orange in it -- and with the black-walled second floor foyer, featuring a dog statue and a bright painting of Abraham Lincoln.
DC Design House (4951 Rockwood Pkwy NW) is open from April 14-May 13. Tickets are $20.
