Rush Limbaugh On Hilary Rosen's Ann Romney Comments: Democrats Launched 'War On Motherhood' (AUDIO)

Limbaugh Flips Out At Hilary Rosen

Rush Limbaugh accused President Obama and other Democrats of launching "a war on motherhood," in response to Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen's comments about Ann Romney on Thursday.

Rosen was speaking about Mitt Romney's standing with female voters on CNN on Wednesday. She said that Mitt Romney claims that his wife keeps him connected to women and economic issues, but that Ann Romney has "never worked a day in her life." The comment caused a kerfuffle, with all sides immediately jumping in to react.

On Thursday, Limbaugh seized on Rosen's remark and wouldn't let up for the bulk of his three-hour program. He launched into a lengthy rant accusing liberals of "genuine hostility" towards stay-at-home mothers.

"The Obama administration has just effectively — whether they know it or not — they have launched a war on motherhood via Hilary Rosen on CNN last night," he blasted.

He said that Rosen's comment — which he labeled an attempt to "divide working mothers from stay-at-home mothers" — made it clear that liberals were "phonies of feminism."

The radio host, who spoke before Rosen issued an apology, also leapt to Ann Romney's defense. "Ann Romney is everything Hilary Rosen would love to be," he said, alleging that the Democratic strategist was jealous of her. He called Romney "a role model" for raising five kids, surviving breast cancer and living with multiple sclerosis.

Limbaugh then extended his criticism to what he called liberals' attitude towards Sarah Palin. "These are the people, the same people, folks … who hammered Sarah Palin for daring to go to work when she had a Down Syndrome child," he said. "These are the same people who hammered Sarah Palin for daring to go to work when she had so many kids to raise."

In one part of his rant, Limbaugh said that Rosen's comment encapsulated his complaints about liberals — chief among them that liberals "are not nice."

"They are angry and they are hostile and they are not compassionate, they are not nice, they have no manners," he said. "In the basics of human existence, they are reprobates. They don’t understand politeness. They are rude, they are crude, they are thoughtless, they are selfish, they are mean."
