Trent Richardson, Courtney Alvis Going To Prom: Top NFL Draft Prospect Is Leukemia Survivor's Date

Trent Richardson Going To Prom With Leukemia Survivor

With the 2012 NFL Draft rapidly approaching, one would think top prospect Trent Richardson would be preparing for one of the biggest days of his life and getting ready to start his NFL career.

Instead, the former Alabama football star is making a high school senior's dream come true by taking her to prom.

Courtney Alvis, a 17-year-old leukemia survivor, missed her junior prom last year since doctors told her she would have to wear a mask and gloves. After enduring a year of chemotherapy when she needed to use a walker in order to get around, she was all set to go to her senior prom. But she didn't have a date.

That's when her uncle stepped in. He used his ties with the University of Alabama and spread the word. Richardson heard that word and decided to be Alvis' date the Hueytown High School prom.

First Tim Tebow took a 10-year-old girl with a tumor condition on a date. Now Trent Richardson. Hopefully we'll see more athletes follow their lead.
