Robert Doisneau Google Doodle Pays Homage To French Street Photographer (VIDEO)

Google Doodle Honors Famous French Street Photographer

Google's homepage today pays homage to Robert Doisneau -- a French street-photographer famous for pioneering photojournalism by capturing intimate photos of everyday Parisian life.

A blog by the Wall Street Journal notes a famous quote by Doisneau, which neatly summarizes the inspiration for his work.

“The marvels of daily life are exciting; no movie director can arrange the unexpected that you find in the street.”

One of his most famous images, also pictured in the Doodle, is "Le Baiser de l'Hôtel de Ville" or "Kiss by the Town Hall."

The Guardian reports Doisneau was born on April 14, 1912, and would have been 100 today.

"Doisneau was fascinated by the Parisians who lived and worked around him," a 1991 obituary obtained by the Christian Science Monitor reads. "He pictured them in their own inimitable cityscape, constructing a narrative which paid homage to the ordinary."
