Madden 13 Cover Vote: Cam Newton, Calvin Johnson Are Last Contenders For Video Game Honor

Madden 13 Cover: Only Two Contenders Left

By Joe Fortenbaugh, National Football Post

Some of the NFL’s top defenders gave it their best shot, but in the end, the offensive side of the football will once again reign supreme.

The race for the cover of EA Sports’ Madden 13 video game has reached the final two, with Carolina’s Cam Newton set to do battle with Detroit’s Calvin Johnson. The Panthers quarterback reached the final after garnering 53% of the vote against 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis, while Megatron advanced by grabbing 67% of the vote against Packers signal-caller Aaron Rodgers.

The winner will be announced one week from today at 5:00pm eastern on the ESPN2 show “SportsNation.” That means you have one week to cast your vote for which player you’d like to see grace the cover of the ever-popular video game.

Newton has been the favorite to win the cover over at offshore sportsbook Bovada.LV, but don’t count out Johnson just yet, as the Lions wideout has landed at least 63% of the vote in each of the previous four rounds.
