Robert Cavalli Slams Anna Wintour, Says American Fashion Is 'Terrible' (PHOTOS)

Roberto Cavalli Said WHAT About Anna Wintour?

Roberto Cavalli is known for making outlandish comments, but this time he may have taken his words too far by attacking the one woman in fashion you don't want to insult: Anna Wintour.

In an interview with Italian website D. La Repubblica, the Italian designer is asked what advice he'd give to young fashion designers. Cavalli stresses the need to "create a new and different direction." He then dares to go where few fashion mavens will: he insults American Vogue editor Anna Wintour:

"Just look at American fashion, which is almost fashion. It's terrible and you almost can't even look at it, but it has been driven by a great journalist, Anna Wintour, who wants all women to be like her and to dress the way she does."

Ouch. This is almost as bad as when Jean Paul Gaultier called Wintour "monstrous."

If we were Roberto, we'd choose our words a little more carefully, especially if he wants his stuff to keep gracing the pages of Vogue.
