Time 100: World Leaders Before They Were 'Most Influential' (PHOTOS)

Time magazine's list of the '100 most influential' people in world included more international figures this year than ever before. Remember these individuals before they snagged Time's spotlight?

In the photographs below, check out some of the list's world leaders looking fresh-faced and sepia-tinted (well, some of them) before they could call themselves 2012's most influential.

As always, not everyone made Time's list for good reasons; below, check out a portrait of Syria's Bashar Assad before he had the blood of 9,000 civilians on his hands.

Some of the other camera-shy international figures to receive Time's hat-tip who are missing from the gallery below include Christine Lagarde, Dilma Rousseff, and Kim Jong Un.
