20th Century Fox has nearly pillaged NBC's Thursday night line-up for creative talent. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Community" executive producers and co-showrunners Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan have signed a two-year deal with 20th Century Fox TV. Variety reports "30 Rock" producer Kay Cannon has also signed an overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV.
Goldman and Donovan have been with "Community" for its three seasons as writers and producers. At 20th Century Fox TV, the duo will develop and supervise new projects.
“We’ve had our eye on them for a long time,” 20th Century Fox TV's Dana Walden told The Hollywood Reporter.
Cannon, who currently is a supervising producer on "30 Rock," has been on staff of the Tina Fey-created comedy since it debuted in 2006. According to Variety, the plan is to have Cannon join the writing staff of "New Girl" and develop her own series.
"We're always looking for distinct voices and we're anxious to develop projects with her," 20th Century's Gary Newman said.
Fey and series star Alec Baldwin have hinted "30 Rock" will be around for seventh and final season, but NBC has not made an official announcement on the matter. Meanwhile, "Community" was benched by NBC for three months before returning to the schedule amidst fan outcry. Plus, the ratings-challenged fan-favorite was recently sold into syndication on Comedy Central, helping its renewal chances.
