"The casino [nearby has] been open for several years, and we've never had this type of issue there before," Hobbs Officer Mike Stone told the station.

The incident started at about 1 a.m. when a security guard saw McDonald allegedly drive onto the track. Officers tried to pull over the Dodge pickup, but he ignored them.

"The sergeant was behind [McDonald] for a lap or so at about 40 mph," Stone said.

Eventually, officers set up a barricade that McDonald stopped at. It took them 10 minutes to get him out -- and he was allegedly "too drunk" to take a sobriety test, Stone said. He was arrested without further incident.

He told officers that he simply wanted to take a couple laps like a NASCAR driver.

KOB reported that McDonald cause more than $25,000 of damage to the track. He was charged with DWI, resisting arrest, criminal trespass and damage to property.

"I'll Have Another" is the name of the horse who won the Kentucky Derby over the weekend.
