Mets Pay Tribute To Beastie Boys' MCA With Walk-Up Music (VIDEOS)

Mets Pay Tribute To Beastie Boys' MCA

Just because a Beastie Boys track will always be more likely to name check John Starks than John Olerud, doesn't mean that the Knick are the only team in New York that feels any affinity to the homegrown hip hop legends. Just hours after Adam Yauch -- who performed under the name MCA -- passed away at age 47 on Friday, May 4th, the Mets offered a small but poignant tribute.

In remembrance of the Brooklyn-born Yauch, who passed away earlier that day after a long battle with cancer, each member of the Mets came to bat with a Beastie Boys song blaring over the public address system at Citi Field. According to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, second baseman Justin Turner and outfielder Scott Hairston hatched the idea prior to the Mets' game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Third baseman David Wright had previously used "Sabotage" and "Brass Monkey" his walk-up music but opted for the latter for this occasion. Here are selections of each of the New York nine. Which song is your favorite? Which Beastie Boys' song would you pick to pay your respects to MCA?
