Four people were killed and two others critically injured in a car crash in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood early Saturday.
Around 1 a.m. near the intersection of 31st Street and Kedzie Avenue, a car heading north on Kedzie at a rapid pace when its driver lost control and hit a light pole, the Chicago Tribune reports. All six individuals inside the vehicle were ejected when the car was torn apart.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, three people -- two females and a male -- were dead at the scene, while a fourth person -- Gabriella Sanchez, 19, of the 3000 block of South Kolin Avenue -- was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital shortly after the crash. The two survivors of the crash are still hospitalized as of late Saturday morning.
A witness described the tragic scene to CBS Chicago and said, "We heard a huge boom so we came. We heard a girl screaming. We thought maybe someone needed help."
The cause of the crash is under investigation. This is a developing story.
