'Real Housewives Of New York City' Season 5: Ramona Singer vs. Countess LuAnn de Lesseps

Ramona vs. Countess LuAnn

The new season of "The Real Housewives of New York City" doesn’t debut until June 4, but original cast members Countess LuAnn de Lesseps and Ramona Singer have already declared war on each other.

“This season gets ugly and ends up being Ramona and Sonja Morgan vs. everyone else,” one cast member tells me. “The countess, who has tried to stay neutral in the past, was forced to choose between the new ladies and her old cast mates ... and picked the former.”

Interestingly, for the first time ever, two cast members are throwing premiere parties on the same night. When Season 1 launched, the entire cast got together and paid for a party at Touch nightclub in New York. When Season 2 started, the show had become such a hit that Bravo threw an official party at the New York Palace hotel. It wasn’t until Season 3, when Jill Zarin and Bethenny Frankel went to war with each other, that we saw separate premiere parties popping up. Jill threw her own bash at La Pomme, which everyone except Frankel and Alex McCord attended. Singer, meanwhile, held an event a few nights later at Tenjune, which was attended by Bethenny, Sonja, Alex and Jennifer Gilbert. Season 4 saw some peace when Ramona once again threw her own party, which Jill and LuAnn missed. But Season 5 is the first time ever that two cast members are doing an event on the same night. Ramona's fete will take place at Serafina on the Upper West Side, while LuAnn's celebration is at Lantern’s Keep in The Iroquois Hotel.

“It will be telling to see who turns up for which event,” an ex-cast member tells me. “Both of these ladies take this very seriously and are very competitive. LuAnn’s party is earlier in the evening, because she is an honorary chair at the annual Fred and Adele Astaire Awards, following her party, so she won’t be able to support Ramona.”
