Columbia College Admissions Could Become More Selective Soon

Columbia College Chicago is considering changing its "generous admissions policy," the keystone of the school's recent mission and one that helped its enrollment grow in recent decades to more than 12,000 students.

The suggestion, one of many made regarding how the school should operate in the future, was included in President Warrick Carter's "Blueprint for Action," which he shared Tuesday with Columbia's faculty and staff. The nearly 100-page document is part of the school's "Focus 2016" strategic plan, the second of its kind since the school was founded in 1890.
