Welcome To Huffington

I am delighted to share a preview of the Huffington Post's new iPad magazine, Huffington. As an app that will recast the best HuffPost reporting and writing in a beautiful tablet setting, Huffington is rooted in a timeless love of reading. Mine was an early love affair.

My mother used to tell everyone the story of how I sent my friends home early from my fifth birthday party because they were interfering with my reading. And I grew up on the romance of journalism, dating to my school years in Athens when my father started a series of failed newspapers. All these years later, I still love few things more than curling up with a good book, a good magazine, or, increasingly, a good iPad.

Each issue of Huffington will contain a variety of stories arranged in a magazine format. Up front, you'll find smart, quick takes on the news of the day, alongside crisp infographics, vibrant Q&A's, and striking photography. Further in, you'll immerse yourself in deep-dive features on politics, culture, and beyond. And, in the back of the book, a lineup of humor, inspiration, and buzz on what our writers are loving or hating, from prosaic reality to literary fiction.

In all, the Huffington experience will be like a full-course meal: appetizer, entrée, and dessert. You'll also be able to engage in a variety of ways, from sharing articles via Facebook, Twitter and email to joining the conversation through real-time commenting.

By taking the best of HuffPost every week and inviting readers to savor it away from the hustle and bustle and random searching that too often characterize our online lives, Huffington will strive to help our readers reconnect with the more timeless aspects of reading -- allowing for expansion, exploration, laughter, and, especially, joy. It's the difference between a one-night stand and a weekend getaway with someone you really want to get to know. Intimately.
