Matt Lauer Hosts 'Nightly News' With A Few Mix-Ups (VIDEO)

Matt Lauer Has Some Trouble Hosting 'Nightly News'

Matt Lauer hosted "Nightly News" Thursday night and couldn't seem to shake off the fact that he was not hosting the "Today" show.

Following a report on the John Edwards trial from NBC's chief legal correspondent Savannah Guthrie (who co-hosts the 9 a.m. hour of "Today"), Lauer thanked "Savannah Guthrie, in the studio this morning." Lauer also thanked correspondent Ron Mott, who Lauer said was reporting from New York "this morning." Finally at the end of his report, Lauer closed the broadcast by telling viewers that he'd see them "tomorrow morning on 'Tonight.'"

TvNewswer reported that Lauer was able to retape his farewell, so west coast viewers of the broadcast heard Lauer say that he would see them "tomorrow morning on 'Today.'"

Lauer has had a pretty busy schedule this week. In addition to anchoring "Today" and guest-hosting "Nightly News," Lauer appeared on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" on Wednesday. He was interviewed by guest host Donny Deutsch and opened up about his "Today" show struggles.

Watch Lauer's mix-up with Guthrie, which comes at the end of the 2-minute clip, in the video above.
