Ryan Buchanan To Ole Miss: Class Of 2013 QB Recruit Picks Rebels Over Alabama, Florida

QB Prospect Picks Ole Miss Over SEC Powers

By Dave Miller, National Football Post

Ryan Buchanan, one of the better pocket passers in the Class of 2013, verbally committed to Ole Miss on Monday.

The Jackson Prep High School (Jackson, MS) star decided to stay in-state and spurn offers from bigger SEC schools such as Florida, Alabama, Auburn and Arkansas. Rivals.com lists Buchanan as a three-star prospect.

The 6-3, 203-pounder visited Oxford this past weekend, so first-year Rebels head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff obviously made quite the impression on the signal-caller. Surprisingly the Rebels went three straight recruiting cycles without landing a high school quarterback. The last prep QB to enroll in Oxford straight out of high school was Raymond Cotton in 2009.

Ole Miss now has 12 verbal commitments in the Class of 2013, including eight prospects that are either four-star or three-star players.
