When "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kim Zolciak, took off her wig and showed her natural hair last week on Bravo's "Don't Be Tardy for the Wedding," it caused an Internet sensation, completely catching the reality star by surprise.
“I definitely didn’t expect the attention it got," Zolciak told me. "I was beyond overwhelmed. It was crazy but even I would want to know what’s under my wig. It’s been four, five years that I've been on TV and never shown it but I didn’t expect it to be the No. 1 story on so many sites. It was worldwide.”
Clearly enjoying the extra attention, Zolciak said she plans to go natural more often and leave the wigs in the closet.
“I will play around more now with and without my wig," Zolciak said. "Everyone thought my real hair was a wig so I couldn’t help but laugh, but I don’t know what they think. There was speculation that I was bald. Where do you think my girls get their beautiful hair from? I love [wigs], they are easy. Look, right now I can go into my closet and pick a straight one, a curly one, one that’s braided. Its easy. Its just fun for me."
But that wasn’t always the case. Zolciak said there was a time in her life about eight years ago when she wasn’t in great shape and had very little hair, which led her to wear wigs.
“At home I never wear a wig," Zolciak said. "My hairdressers said for the wedding day I should wear my real hair. I thought the complete opposite. But they pissed me off so much over the course of two months, I thought, you know what, I’m going to show America.”
