Hey girl. It's me, San Francisco. Since you're the hottest new hyper-local Tumblr sensation, I know you're busy trolling the Internet for the perfect gif to pair with today's Obama visit. But I just wanted to take a minute and let you know how much I appreciate you.
Sure, there have been other online sensations that have coddled me through a 3 p.m. workday lull. Texts from Hillary. Puppy Cam. But none like you.
Who understood my roller coaster of emotions when Starbucks bought La Boulange? You did. And who knows when it's okay to give me a hard time for taking myself too seriously? You know who.
You appreciate the small things. Like my cool demeanor during earthquakes and my supernatural ability to grow facial hair. And for that, I appreciate you.
Like anyone, I have my shortcomings. My weather leaves much to be desired, I know. And I suppose I could be more open-minded about children.
But despite all that, you don't judge me. And you know just what to say when other people bring me down. Like when I'm feeling insecure after a HuffPost SF article goes national and the commenters call San Franciscans "self-aggrandizing, smug and disconnected from the rest of the world." You know nothing can turn that frown upside down like a treat at Hot Cookie.
