'On The Fly': Hero's Welcome As Veterans Fly Home On Southwest Airlines (VIDEO)

'On The Fly': Hero's Welcome For Veterans

On the latest hour of "On the Fly" (Thu., 9 p.m. ET on TLC), the flight crew crowned as heroes some military veterans returning home. It was a simple gesture, but a touching tribute to the hard work and sacrifice of the men and women in uniform. While nothing can truly match what these brave people do for the country they serve, that acknowledgement from the civilian population is always appreciated, though never expected.

The tears flowed even harder as the plane touched down and the veterans got a true hero's welcome from their loved ones in the airport. It's impossible not to have an emotional reaction when seeing spouses and children reunited with a soldier who's been away from home. The sacrifice that the family makes is significant as well, and can be seen in these moments of love and relief.

Southwest Airlines is under no obligation to treat military passengers any differently than the rest of their passengers, so it was a nice touch to see them go that extra mile to make them feel like "royalty" during their anticipation of the family reunion awaiting them on the ground.
