SlutWalk Detroit Protesters Speak Out Against 'Rape Culture'

Detroit -- For a long time Megan Rumbles didn't tell anyone she had been sexually assaulted. A couple close friends knew, but she didn't tell her school or her mother because she didn't want the negative attention. On Saturday, she shared her story in front of a group of marchers assembled at Grand Circus Park, protesting blaming the victims of sexual assault.

"After two experiences I've had, I decided I wanted to fight back finally," said the Fenton resident before the march. "People need to know what they say is hurtful and it just continues this rape culture that we have."

A few hundred SlutWalk Detroit protesters, male and female, rallied at the park at 2000 Woodward at 2 p.m. Saturday before marching to Hart Plaza and back.
